This tender opportunity is for three (x3) Artisan Foreman Grade A positions in the Electrical/Electronician trade at the SA Naval Armament Depot in Simon’s Town. The successful candidates will be responsible for the specialized maintenance and repair of advanced naval weapon systems, including SUT Torpedoes, EXOCET missile tubes, and UMKHONTO Missiles.The role requires an appropriate Trade Test Certificate, a minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience, and a valid driver’s license. Key skills include technical analysis, report writing, knowledge of legal compliance (such as the OHAS Act), and experience with electrical weapons systems, which is preferred.The salary scale is R382,047 to R433,176 per annum. REQUIREMENTS:

  • Appropriate Trade Test Certificate
  • 5 years post qualification experience as an Artisan
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Special requirements (Skills needed): Experienced in Electrical Weapons Systems would be preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) in English at all levels

DUTIES:

  • Maintaining and repairing SUT Torpedoes
  • Preparing exercise torpedoes for issue
  • Preparing combat torpedoes for issue or for Ready to Use Magazine
  • Preparing and maintaining torpedo Counter Measure launchers
  • Purging and pressure checks of EXOCET missile tube
  • Carry out 2-yearly functional test on UMKHONTO Missile and monthly purge of the pure air system
  • Ensuring security within the section
  • Ensure compliance of the OHAS Act.
