This is a 12-month internship contract for an Operations and Trade Support Intern at UBS in Rosebank, Johannesburg. The role is designed for a recent graduate to join a vital team managing the front-to-back trade lifecycle. The intern will assist with trade booking, settlement, reconciliation, and client reporting, while also identifying opportunities for process improvement and risk reduction. Key requirements include a Matric certificate, a Bachelor’s degree, advanced MS Excel proficiency, and a willingness to work towards digital transformation tools and complete JSE exams. The ideal candidate is adaptable, highly organized, and possesses excellent attention to detail.

We’re looking for an Operations and Trade Support Intern to:
- Assist and support the Operations and Trade Support team where necessary
- Provide reporting to internal and external clients, and support projects (including process review and change requests)
- Identify and recommend ways to improve processes, reduce risks, strengthen controls
- Commit to a culture of continuous learning, transforming and adapting while still remaining client centric
You’ll be working in the Operations and Trade Support team in Rosebank, South Africa. We work closely with all colleagues and key stakeholders to manage the effective booking, settlement and reconciliation of multiple products as well as timely, accurate processing of transactions and events, including booking and handling of queries. Your team plays a vital role in the front to back trade lifecycle.
Requirements:
- Matric certificate
- Bachelor’s degree
- Proficient computer skills including [MS office], with advanced MS Excel
- Adaptable, organized and able to adjust communication style to audience
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility, being able to deliver to tight deadlines and manage several priorities at once
- Be willing to work towards Digital Transformation (Alteryx, Power BI)
- Be willing to complete JSE Exams
Advantageous:
- Experience of interacting with middle and front offices to resolve trade queries and issues (added advantage)
- Project management skills (advantage)
