Based in Durban North, the intern will provide crucial first-line support across a wide range of ICT functions. Key responsibilities include maintaining lecture room technology (projectors, printers, wireless infrastructure), troubleshooting hardware and software issues, performing administrative duties like asset register management, and shadowing senior IT staff to develop server troubleshooting skills. The IT Intern will provide first-line support across various ICT functions on campus and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic educational environment.

Key Responsibilities

Lecture Room Support

  • Daily checks and maintenance of lecture venues, printers, screens, and projectors
  • Wireless infrastructure monitoring

Hardware Support

  • Assist with setup and troubleshooting of desktops, laptops, printers, and projectors
  • Support user hardware queries

Software Support

  • Software installations and updates (e.g., Microsoft Office)
  • License administration

Administration

  • Log calls with the IT Service Desk
  • Maintain and update asset register (hardware/software)
  • Generate photocopier and telephone usage reports

General

  • Maintain neat ICT environments (server room, storeroom, offices)
  • Oversee ICT equipment sign-in/sign-out

Development

  • Shadow senior IT staff
  • Troubleshoot server-related issues

Minimum Qualification Requirements

  • NQF Level 5 (Higher Certificate / Occupational Certificate) or

  • Monday to Friday: 08:00 – 17:00
