Nketoana Local Municipality in the Free State Province is inviting applications for its 24-month Financial Management Internship Programme (FMIP). Funded by National Treasury, this structured programme aims to equip young South African finance graduates with practical, hands-on experience in key municipal financial operations. Successful candidates will receive a generous annual stipend of R100,000, workplace training in areas like budgeting and supply chain management, and professional mentorship. The opportunity is open to unemployed South African citizens aged 21-35 who hold a relevant finance degree or diploma and have no prior formal public sector work experience. About the FMIP

The Financial Management Internship Programme (FMIP) is a 24-month structured internship aimed at equipping young finance graduates with practical experience in municipal financial management. The programme is implemented under the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA) and aligned with the National Treasury’s capacity-building initiatives.

Who Can Apply?

Applicants must:

  • Hold a National Diploma or Degree in AccountingFinancial ManagementAuditing, or related fields
  • Have no prior formal public sector work experience
  • Be willing to commit to a 24-month contract
  • Demonstrate good personal skills and a customer-service orientation

Preference will be given to unemployed youth and previously disadvantaged individuals in line with Employment Equity objectives.
