The South African Navy is seeking a qualified and experienced Artisan to provide critical telephone network technical services at the Naval Base in Simon’s Town. This permanent position offers a salary between R382,047 and R433,176 per annum. The ideal candidate must possess an appropriate Trade Test Certificate, a minimum of 5 years of post-qualification artisan experience, and a valid driver’s license. Key responsibilities include the installation, maintenance, and repair of analogue and digital (VoIP) telephone systems, cable reticulation, supervising staff and contractors, and managing technical reports and stores. REQUIREMENTS:

DUTIES:
- Execution of voice technical service provision operations, conduct voice technical support services, execute voice technical service provisions operations, monitor SAN ICT telephone network operations
- Provide Telephone Network cable reticulation services, provide telephone instrument technical services, provide fixed line (Telkom) connectivity services and provide fixed line connectivity for foreign and local vessels
- Distribution account holder for the technical section
- Maintain accurate cable reticulation records
- Execution and control of job card system
- Communicating with Contractors, performing tasks not included in the job description
- Ordering and managing stores
- Supervise Contractors’ work.
